The Eleventh Annual Exeter Poetry Slam!
12 contestants, 3 rounds, 1 winner, much kudos.
This year's slam is part of the Cygnet Theatre’s 40th Anniversary festival
Tim King and Ysella Sims proudly host 12 of the finest poetic performers in the South West as they compete in the 11th instalment of this annual knock out competition.
In addition to the kudos and abundant opportunities for further paid gigs, there's a £100 prize for the winner alongside £50 and £20 for the two runners up.
Story Blaze: The King & The Corpse
Artemis Storytelling will be telling the story of The King and the Corpse, an extraordinary set of tales handed down through Indian oral tradition for hundreds of years, each one with a riddle or moral dilemma at its heart which we invite you, the audience, to explore with us. Storyteller line-up: Sarah Brand, Robin Eastoe, Moniqa Islam, Chuffy Jenkins, Elly Lee and Tricia St Clair. Hosted by Katy Cawkwell.
Doors open 7:30, 8pm start.

If you can't make it in person, there will be a livestream that night - livestream tickets must be bought by 2pm on 19th. If you buy an in-person ticket, you will be able to convert it to a livestream one up to 6 hours in advance, if you are ill or need to isolate. NB the storytelling will be directed at the in-person audience: the livestream is simply "fly-on-the-wall" - we will not be talking to the camera and the digital audience with not be able to interact directly with the storytellers. If you possibly can, please come to The Hall: you will have a much better experience!

This is your opportunity to ask the politicians how they see Exeter’s cultural community developing over the coming years and the values they place on creativity in all areas of life.

The Trembling Grass: Performance
A performance featuring poets from the exhibition will take place at The Hall, Exeter This will showcase work produced from our workshops alongside established poets working with themes of eco-poetry and conflict over natural resources, including readings from Allen Fisher, Maggie O’Sullivan, Harriet Tarlo and Judith Prince.
The Trembling Grass: Workshop
Eco-poetry is the study of the ways that poetry can address ecological issues. Open to all, this workshop run by poets Elizabeth-Jane Burnett and Camilla Nelson will explore the ideas of eco-poetry and allow participants to experiment with the theme of conflict over natural resources.
