Hire the space for the morning, afternoon, evening or whole day.

Basic Hire is generally suitable for events that do not require staff, technical assistance, disco lights, bar, full kitchen or catering. These can all be added on as extras when booking but it maybe cheaper to book using our packages section.

Perfect for meetings, workshops, conferences, away days & screenings.

All basic hire bookings come with projector, screen, sound system and 1 wired microphones. Available add on include, tea /coffee, tech support, catering, table and chair layouts, bar, wireless microphones.

Please note; basic hire is not suitable for parties or weddings.

Basic Hire Prices

Morning (Sunday to Friday) 08:00-12:30 (4 hours 30 minutes). £150.00

Afternoon (Sunday to Friday) 13:00-16:30 (3 hours 30 minutes) £150.00

Daytime (Any Day) 08:00-16:30 (8 hours 30 minutes) £250.00

Full Day (Any Day) 08:00-22:00 (14 hours ) £450.00

Evening (Sunday to Thursday) 17:00-22:00 (5 hours) £200.00

Evening (Friday/Saturday) 17:00-22:00 (5 hours) £400.00

*Extensions up-to midnight available with packages or on request.

  • If your booking does require a bar there is a £100 charge to cover staff. This is refundable if bar takings exceed £200. (Select when booking)

  • For catering, please first visit belskitchen.co.uk, or phone Isabel on 07786 441439 to discuss arrangements before you book. We are always willings to hold a date for you while you make catering arrangements with her.

  • A bring your own food option and kitchen hire for external caterers is also available (Select when booking).

  • All basic hires without extras are ‘return as found’: at the end of your event, The Hall must be left as it was when you arrived including removal of any rubbish generated. Certain events may require a damage deposit at our discretion.

  • For basic hire bookings, please let us know if you are planning to bring more than 40 people. This is to ensure the comfort and safety of your guests. The Hall can accommodate up to 120 but this may require staff or risk assessments.

  • Discounts and shorter hire lengths maybe available if your booking is within the next 30 days. Please call us on 01392 211 111 for details.

  • A minimum deposit of 25% of the total cost is required to secure your booking. Please read out our complete terms and conditions below.

  • The Hall is neither subsidised nor permanently staffed, so we operate a minimum hire period of 3.5 hours to keep our timetable manageable. In exceptional circumstances, or for last-minute bookings, we may be able to accommodate shorter hire periods – but please don’t rely on availability. There are many community centres and arts spaces for rent in Exeter; if you’re looking for cheaper space to hire by the hour, we will certainly do our best to help you find alternatives.

  • Yes. We offer better rates for bookings for consecutive days or even weeks, subject to availability of dates. There is generally better availability for longer-term hire during the school holidays.

  • We do not allow food or drink to be brought into The Hall without prior arrangement. We are not licensed for customers to bring their own alchohol

  • The Hall can accommodate:

    120 people (standing)
    100 theatre style seated
    x for seated for dinner
    x seated buffet / family style

    Bookings for more than 40 guests may require a risk assessment and/or additional staff. Capacity also depends on table and chair layouts (see example layouts below in our specifications section on our website).

    For dry-hire bookings, you must let us know if you are planning to bring more than 40 people. This is to ensure the comfort and safety of your guests.

  • Yes. We offer a 20% discount for dry hire to charities and CICs.

  • We do but it will require booking an extention as an extra. Generally speaking, extentions are used for parties, weddings and discos. Please see our Events Packages for details and contact us with any questions. We are licensed till midnight.

  • Only sound and lighting equipment supplied by The Hall can be used unless by prior arrangement.

    Safety and licensing regulations mean we do not allow users of The Hall to bring their own food, drink or alcohol. If you require a staffed bar or catering, please contact us or belskitchen.co.uk to discuss.

    Those using the building for commercial purposes must provide a copy of their business insurance documents at the time of booking.

    The use of naked flames, smoke machines, power tools or machinery is forbidden unless written permission is sought and granted.

    Events that promote or indirectly support racism, otherisation, objectification, environmental destruction or extremism are not welcome at The Hall. Our full terms and conditions are available here.

  • Cancellation policy for all hire except weddings, (see separate policy for weddings).

    Any request to cancel shall be notified to The Hall immediately by telephone to mobile 07983400227 and by email to hello@thehallexeter.org.

    i) From the date of deposit taken, there is a 7 day cooling off period during which the event can be canceled and the whole deposit can be refunded at the request of either party.

    ii) From 7 days after deposit is taken, the 25% deposit paid on booking is non-refundable under any circumstances. There can be no exceptions. All cancellations must be made via email to hello@thehallexeter.org

    iii) From 2 months before the scheduled event, the full balance will be taken automatically.

    iv) If the event is canceled before more than one month of the scheduled event, 50% of the balance can be refunded.

    v) If the event is canceled less than 1 month before the event, no refund will be given except for tea and coffee add ons, which will be refunded in full.
